GOP gubernatorial candidate Dan Maes spent the weekend choosing a running mate.

Spokesman Nate Strauch says Maes was interviewing four or five candidates, and he will have an announcement early in the week. The deadline for choosing a running mate under state law is Tuesday.

Democratic candidate John Hickenlooper chose Colorado State University-Pueblo President Joe Garcia to be his running mate.

American Constitution Party challenger Tom Tancredo kept Doug Campbell, whom former candidate Benjamin Goss had chosen to be his running mate. Goss later withdrew his candidacy and a vacancy committee chose Tancredo to replace him.
