TODAY: The warm-up continues across eastern Colorado today. Temps this afternoon will be another 6-8 degrees warmer than yesterday. Highs will range from 89 in Colorado Springs and 96 toasty degrees in Pueblo. There will be a slightly better chance of a few storms at the lower elevations close to the mountains and I-25 today compared to yesterday. Chance for Colorado Springs/El Paso County will be 20%...10-20% in Pueblo by this evening. Canon City will see a 20% chance and even higher storm chances over the Wet & Sangre de Cristo Mountains. If you live in Teller County your chances will be higher still....at least 30%. If we do see storms at the lower elevations they will like produce more wind than rain due to the fact that the lower levels of the atmosphere have dried-out a little compared to the more abundant moisture over the mountains.
TONIGHT: Cloudy close to and over the mountains early...then becoming mostly clear by the start of your Friday.
FRIDAY-SUNDAY: Forecast for the last day of the week and the entire weekend sounds about the same as the weather we'll see today. Storms 'possible' along I-25 and west to the mountains, but much more likely over the higher elevations and in the mountains. Keep that in mind if you have plans to do some camping, hiking or biking. Temps will stay hot during the three day span. Some temps on the eastern plains will be right around 100 degrees!
MONDAY-TUESDAY: As of right now it looks like we should expect an increase in the amount of monsoon moisture to start next week. As this happens it will have two obvious affects on our weather. First, it will help increase our chances for more storms in eastern Colorado...but, also help lower of toasty temps just a bit.
